Tourism services provider Destination Milton Keynes and telecommmunications firm Briteyellow have joined forces to provide the information, which includes ‘What’s on’, bus travel, bed and breakfast, shopping, hotels, and local attractions.
The answer to an SMS text enquiry from their mobile phone is sent instantly. The service is free, said Destination Milton Keynes general manager Jackie Inskipp (pictured).
She added: “This will make a big difference to our service quality and responsiveness. We receive a large number of telephone enquiries from visitors. With this automated mobile phone service, we can now handle more enquires without additional resources.”
The DMK Mobile service is powered by Briteyellow’s Oneaccess mobile information system. Briteyellow managing director Fredi Nonyelu said: “Users nowadays expect information on demand. Briteyellow’s Oneaccess provides a powerful and flexible system for any service provider wanting to provide a faster response to enquiries, especially when people are mobile.”
Anyone can make a free enquiry to DMK Mobile simply by texting “dmk” to 07797 805724. Once the text has been sent the user will receive a message containing an options menu from where they can select the information required. The information requested is sent instantly by SMS text message or a web link if the mobile phone used has internet access enabled.
User’s existing mobile operator may charge for SMS or data sent or downloaded from their phone.
