The scheme is expected to create 400 retail jobs and a further 250 construction jobs.
The plans, which visitors to a public exhibition of the plans said would be “positive for the city”, involve the removal of the Secklow Gate Bridge that takes traffic over the shopping centre.
thecentre:mk also plans to create an improved site for the market.

The Primark scheme would be the latest in a series of significant investments in thecentre:mk. A £27 million extension and refurbishment scheme is already under way at John Lewis while Next is working on a £6 million extension and refit. The £4.5 million refurbishment at house of Fraser opened late last year.
