New-look M1 J10a officially opens

The new major roundabout connects the M1 spur to the important Airport Way and London Road routes.

The scheme received £25 million of government funding and will allow easier access to London Luton Airport, reduce congestion, and open up future housing and employment developments in the area.

During the visit, Mr Jones also put the first spade in the ground on the Woodside Link road to mark the start of the main construction phase.

The scheme will improve commercial links between Houghton Regis and the M1 to support Bedfordshire’s economic growth and housing delivery.

Mr Jones said:

“These schemes will make it easier for people to access Luton Airport and the M1, providing better journeys for residents and businesses and supporting more housing and jobs.

“The government is committed to investing in faster and more reliable transport links. These road schemes are part of our long term economic plan to deliver benefits for everyone.”

The new Junction 10A scheme has received £25 million government funding through the Regional Growth Fund. The total cost of the scheme is £30 million.
