Jobs saved as building company is sold

Agreement has been reached in principle for Rok’s operations in Milton Keynes, Gatwick and Heathrow – along with its social house-building arm – to be sold to Balfour Beatty plc subsidiary Mansell Construction Services.

The sale will secure 381 jobs, said a spokesman for administrators PwC, which has announced the closure of Rok’s sites in Reading, Crawley, Bristol and Exeter with the loss of around 235 jobs.

PwC director and joint administrator Jeremy Webb said: “We are delighted that we have been able to secure a sale of part of the business hence preserving employment for 381 people. This is tinged with disappointment that there was not sufficient interest in the other parts and hence the redundancies that have been made.”
