More than one million passengers travelled through the airport, the first time the milestone of a million passengers in a month has been reached before the start of the busy summer period.
Four new routes launched by easyJet, to Essasouira, Split and Bodrum, and Thomson to Naples contribute to the increase.
And that is expected to continue as Wizz Air prepares to fly new routes to Iasi, Ohrid and Constanta from this month.
Airport chief executive Nick Barton said: “As we move into the busy summer season we are committed to ensuring that passengers enjoy the best possible experience. Our £100 million redevelopment project will help us to deliver that.”
