Taking the pain out of using a car

Rex’s business, Hacfield Leasing, prides itself on providing a tailored service to its many clients and has built a well-deserved reputation not just locally – its principal market – but also throughout the UK.

The company is not into large fleets but currently has around 250 vehicles on lease – either business or personal. Most local clients are business professionals – accountants, solicitors etc. – and SMEs, many of whom have been with Cranfield-based Hacfield for more than 30 years.

Says Rex (pictured): “I’ve been in motor cars all my life – manufacture as well as retail – starting in Barton le Clay and then with a motor dealership in Woburn. We’ve stuck to the plan of making it a professionally focused business, which has paid dividends.

“Practically every contact we make has come by referral and you can’t get better than that.”

He concedes that there are many myths surrounding leasing which he and his team set out to dispel right from the start. Despite considerable market changes and legislation, leasing is still the most popular way to finance cars, according to Rex.

His team aren’t deterred by talk of discounts for outright purchase, as this often disguises other less helpful issues such as depreciation and small annual write-off costs.

Flexibility and value for money are Hacfield’s watchwords. The company’s belief is that it’s imperative to spend time finding out what’s best for their clients by “giving people the easy way of getting into cars” and ensuring that they know the true cost of what they are driving.

Hacfield is constantly seeking out the very best deals on purchase acquisition and finance rates which can be passed on directly to clients.

“Our aim is to take the pain out of using a motor car,” says Rex. “Let’s be honest, a car isn’t an asset. This is a great way of eliminating depreciation and if you’re a business you have a known cost. Although we are now seeing a reduction in car size, there’s still total user choice.”

In addition to its leasing schemes, Hacfield provides vehicle ownership solutions for professional individuals including ‘Company Car Opt Out Employees’ and fleets for small to medium-sized companies.

To back up the personal, face-to-face contact, Hacfield also has a useful website www.hacfield.com which includes a step-by-step guide to selecting your own vehicle, contract time and cost.
