Lord Winston heads conference line-upDec 11, 2009
Repairing the Body will discuss a range of topics from possible treatment for viral infections to mending the spinal cord through the emerging fields of translational medicine – how research is translated from the laboratory bench into the clinic – and regenerative medicine.
Translating medical research from the bench to the hospital bedside brings huge technological, ethical and regulatory hurdles that must be overcome.
The conference will discuss this alongside the gap between research and industry.
Lord Winston (pictured), Professor of Science and Society and Emeritus Professor of Fertility, Imperial College, London, will aim to challenge the translational medicine community with his expert opinion.
Professor Richard Aspinall, head of Cranfield Health’s translational medicine department said: “We are delighted that Professor Lord Robert Winston is a keynote speaker at Cranfield’s Repairing the Body conference. Anyone with an interest in how medicine moves from the laboratory to the doctor’s clinic should book their place quickly to get a chance of attending this event.”
The conference on April 22-23 is suitable for biomedical scientists, pharmaceutical researchers, academics and anyone with an interest in this field.
