intu MK submits expansion plans to council

The proposals focus on the redevelopment of Midsummer Boulevard and Oak Court within intu Milton Keynes and were unveiled at a public consultation in the shopping centre and online in mid-March.

intu regional centre director Paul Lancaster said: “Oak Court and the boulevard are busy thoroughfares but not a positive use of space. These proposals will create outstanding areas overlooked by prime flagship retail stores and the best catering quarter in Milton Keynes.”

The plans propose one of the most significant retail and leisure development projects that Central Milton Keynes has seen in over a decade. If approved, it will include a new dining quarter and a five- screen boutique cinema.

In the public consultation, more than 75% of those who completed a questionnaire after seeing the proposals supported intu’s plans. A similar number said the scheme would provide a better experience when visiting the city centre.
