Venues join tourism body

Contemporary boutique bed and breakfast South Lodge, watersports and team-building events specialist Whitecap Leisure and bed-and-breakfast establishment 17 Selby Grove – based in Shenley Church End – have boosted DMK’s membership to 69 organisations.

Destination Milton Keynes is the collective voice for tourism in Milton Keynes and the surrounding area. Its members aim to promote the many leisure and tourism facilities available in Milton Keynes and DMK provides a free venue finding service covering business and leisure.

South Lodge owner Julia Cox said: “We thought it would be a great idea to become members of Destination Milton Keynes because of the passion and role it provides in promoting Milton Keynes. Since joining, our website stats have increased and I am aware of several bookings through this route.”

Whitecap Leisure, based at Willen Lake, is a Royal Yachting Association and British Canoe Union training centre. Event manager Ro Pakenham Walsh said: “I’ve seen so many hotels and event venues become members over the past few years and I think we all have a common goal of wanting to promote Milton Keynes as an ideal destination for visitors.”

Welcoming the new members, DMK general manager Jackie Inskipp said: “They all provide tourists and businesses with a unique service that adds to the appeal of coming to Milton Keynes. Their support will help us continue promoting the new city and surrounding area as a superb place to visit.”
