Ruth Devine, managing director of Milton Keynes-based SJD Associates, has become President of the Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA).
She is only the second woman in the organisation’s 125-year history to hold the role. The ECA is the national trade body representing the electrical engineering and building services sector.
Ruth, who received an MBE for services to apprenticeships, has been a director at Stonebridge-based SJD for 18 years and is a leading voice in the electrotechnical industry. She has won both local and national recognition for championing apprenticeships and is committed to driving greater inclusivity and sustainability across the sector.
“It’s an honour to take on the role of ECA President at such a critical time for our industry as we face the triple challenges of increasing demand for electrification, improving and demonstrating competence for better building safety and closing the skills gap,” she said.
SJD’s current projects include electrical works for the upgrade of Milton Keynes Council’s recycling and waste transfer station in Wolverton. The firm has also completed electrical installations for the refurbishment of the Milton Mouse children’s unit at Milton Keynes University Hospital and contributed to the creation of new accessible homes at Camphill MK.
The company supports businesses across the region in cutting carbon emissions by providing full-service electrical solutions, from design and project management through to installation and testing.
