Local businesses are being invited to take centre stage at Midsummer Place this Christmas by sponsoring and decorating a tree in the shopping centre’s annual festive display.

The Christmas Tree Community Festival, which officially opens today, will see 20 trees installed in the mall between 15 November and 24 December. Each tree offers sponsors the chance to showcase their brand during the busiest shopping period of the year, while also raising money for local charities.

Past participants have included Red Bull Racing, Franklins Solicitors, Hays Travel and Redway Runners.

Sponsorship costs £300 per tree, with all proceeds going into a prize fund. Shoppers will vote for their favourite displays, with the three most popular trees receiving a share of the funds: 50% for first place, 30% for second and 20% for third.

“The Christmas Tree Community Festival offers local businesses not just tremendous visibility in our mall over the festive period, but also a meaningful way to give back to our community,” said Kirsty McGiff, marketing manager at Midsummer Place.

Voting runs throughout the festival, from 15 November until Christmas Eve. Businesses and organisations interested in sponsoring a tree can apply via the Midsummer Place website.
