Angel investing takes centre stage in Milton Keynes this week as the city launches its contribution to Business Finance Week 2025 with a breakfast event for entrepreneurs and business founders.
The session, Where’s the money? – Angel investing in Milton Keynes, takes place on Wednesday 1 October at the Sky Lounge, Unity Place, from 8.00am to 10.30am.
For many early-stage businesses, securing traditional debt finance can be challenging — particularly for those that are pre-revenue, pre-profit, or requiring significant upfront capital to develop prototypes. Angel investors are the UK’s largest source of investment for start-ups and offer an essential alternative to borrowing.
Hosted by Santander X’s Work Café Milton Keynes in partnership with Santander UK plc and Central Arc Angels, the event is the first in a two-part Milton Keynes series aimed at individuals new to finance. It will explain what angel investors are, the benefits and risks of working with them, and what they look for in growing businesses.
Speakers include:
-
Mark Barry, senior investment director
-
Vicky Mears, director, UK Network – Midlands and North of England
-
Abdul-Basit Mohammed, regional investment ecosystem manager, Innovate UK Business Connect
-
Liz Nolan, Work Café manager, Santander Work Café Milton Keynes
-
Jamie Roberts, steering group, Central Arc Angels and managing partner, YFM Equity Partners
-
Jonathan Keeling, partner, Haatch
-
Johnathan Matlock, co-founder, Empirical Ventures
Attendees will also hear from founders who have successfully secured angel investment, with additional insights from the British Business Bank’s Regional Angels Programme Delivery Partners. Up to three entrepreneurs will be invited to showcase their businesses during the session.
