Final call for teams to join MK Pancake Race in Campbell Park

Milton Keynes businesses are being urged to act quickly as entries close for the MK Pancake Race, the city’s annual Corporate Pancake Day Race taking place in Campbell Park later this month.

The popular fundraising event will return on Shrove Tuesday, 17 February, with races starting from 11.30am, bringing together teams from across the Milton Keynes business community for a light-hearted competition with a serious cause.

Organised by The Parks Trust, the event raises money to support activities and future projects at the Milton Keynes Rose, a landmark space in the city centre used for celebration, reflection and commemoration. Importantly, 100 per cent of entry fees go directly towards supporting the Rose.

Teams of four colleagues are invited to take part, with an £80 entry fee per team. Competitors will race in heats, with the fastest teams progressing to a final to compete for the title of MK Corporate Pancake Day Race Winner. The current holders of the title are Mercer & Hole.

However, it is not just speed that matters. In keeping with the long-standing traditions of the Olney Pancake Race, teams are required to race while wearing a headscarf and apron, while carrying and tossing a pancake in a frying pan along the course.

Amy Gerhard, events and community engagement assistant at The Parks Trust, said the race continues to be a highlight in the city’s business events calendar. “We’re excited to once again see local businesses and organisations go head to head in the annual race, which really puts the fun into fundraising,” she said.

“Support such as this helps fund special projects and future pillars for the Milton Keynes Rose. These pillars reflect our diverse community and record dates of events associated with Milton Keynes’ past and present.”

Opened in 2013, the Milton Keynes Rose was created as a gift to the city, offering individuals, community groups and organisations a place to mark moments of local, national and international significance. Since then, it has become an important civic space within Campbell Park.

The Corporate Pancake Day Race provides Milton Keynes companies with an opportunity to support that mission while also promoting team building, wellbeing and friendly rivalry among colleagues.
