Milton Keynes City Council has launched a new programme to help residents with disabilities, health conditions or complex needs find employment.
The Connect to Work scheme — funded by government and delivered in partnership with councils across the region — aims to support more than 1,500 local people over the next five years.
Participants will receive up to 12 months of tailored, one-to-one guidance from employment specialists who will help match them with suitable roles based on their skills and circumstances. The programme also offers access to training courses and local services designed to build confidence and improve employability.
The council formally agreed to take part in the partnership on 30 September, with around £5 million in grant funding allocated to deliver the work.
“Finding a job can be challenging when you have additional needs or face barriers,” said a council spokesperson. “This scheme is about breaking those barriers down and helping people make the most of their strengths. We want to connect residents with employers and ensure everyone has the right support to find meaningful, long-term work.”
