Willen Hospice has appointed former Mayor of Milton Keynes Amanda Marlow to its Business Development team.
Amanda, who has combined her role as a councillor with long-standing support for local charities, will work alongside colleagues Kate Broadhurst, Richard Alsop, Nigel Birch and Rachael Withe to strengthen partnerships with businesses across the city.
She joins after a year with the Safety Centre and will focus on building connections with local companies to support Willen Hospice’s fundraising efforts.
The charity provides free specialist palliative care to patients and their families in Milton Keynes, with 86% of its services delivered in people’s own homes. But it costs £8.7 million each year to run — a sum that must be raised almost entirely through community and business support.
“Willen Hospice delivers care that is personal, human and available to every resident in Milton Keynes who needs it,” said Amanda. “But that care isn’t free to provide. My role is about engaging with businesses and decision-makers who want to make a real difference in our community.”
