Businesses across Milton Keynes are being invited to take part in the 2027 Franklins £50 Challenge, after the regional law firm confirmed the 12 charities that will benefit from next year’s fundraising initiative.
Among those selected are Milton Keynes charities Harry’s Rainbow, Milton Keynes Hospital Charity, The Henry Allen Trust and UnityMK, alongside Camphill Milton Keynes & Northants and YMCA South Midlands.
Organised by Franklins Solicitors LLP, the challenge gives participating businesses, schools and community groups £50 in seed funding, which they must use to raise as much money as possible for their chosen charity.
The 2027 campaign will run from 23 February to 29 May, with teams encouraged to organise fundraising activities ranging from raffles and sponsored challenges to events and other initiatives.
Now entering its ninth year, the Franklins £50 Challenge has raised more than £243,000 for charities across Milton Keynes, Northamptonshire and the surrounding area since it began in 2018.
The full list of charities selected for 2027 comprises Ailsa’s Aim, Camphill Milton Keynes & Northants, Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity, Harry’s Rainbow, Milton Keynes Hospital Charity, Northamptonshire Domestic Abuse Service, Rainbows Hospice, Spinal Injuries Association, The Henry Allen Trust, The Lewis Foundation, UnityMK and YMCA South Midlands.
The charities provide support across a range of areas, including serious illness, bereavement, disability, domestic abuse and homelessness.
The announcement follows a successful 2026 campaign in which 56 fundraising teams raised more than £50,000 for 12 charities over three months.
Rosanna Stimson, associate partner and head of marketing at Franklins Solicitors, said: “We’re delighted to announce our 12 charity partners for 2027. The standard of applications was incredibly high, which made the selection process particularly difficult.
“The £50 Challenge has grown into something we’re immensely proud of. It’s about much more than fundraising. It’s about bringing people together, creating connections between local businesses and charities and showing what can be achieved when a community gets behind a shared goal.
“Every year we’re amazed by the enthusiasm, creativity and generosity of the teams taking part. We’re looking forward to working with our charity partners to make the 2027 Challenge another fantastic success.”
The initiative brings together businesses and charities that might not otherwise have worked together, giving participating organisations an opportunity to develop new contacts while supporting local causes.
Each team chooses one of the selected charities to support, with Franklins providing the initial funding and coordinating the campaign.
With the charity partners now confirmed, registration is open for businesses and other organisations interested in joining the 2027 Franklins £50 Challenge.
