Milton Keynes is preparing to welcome back one of the region’s most inspiring events — the MK Innovates STEM Festival, taking place on 21–22 October 2025 at Middleton Hall, Centre:MK.

Founded in 2017 by Women Leaders UK, MK Innovates has become a driving force in tackling the UK’s persistent shortage of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) skills — a shortfall that costs the economy an estimated £1.5 billion each year.

This year’s theme, “Connect to Innovate,” captures the festival’s mission to unite businesses, educators and the community to inspire innovation, close the STEM skills gap, and encourage diversity and inclusion across the sector.

“MK Innovates was created to encourage more women and girls into STEM, but today it’s about much more than that,” said Dr Susan Izadkhasti, Trustee of Women Leaders UK and Festival Lead. “We are tackling barriers that prevent people – especially those from underrepresented and disadvantaged groups – from seeing themselves in these industries. This event is a celebration of opportunity, a place where connections are made, and futures are shaped.”

Two Days of Discovery and Opportunity

The festival will bring together over 35 organisations, including MK College, Oracle Red Bull Racing STEMx, Network Rail, Niftylift, Anglian Water and many more, to showcase the exciting world of STEM through hands-on activities, live demonstrations, and career guidance.

Day 1 – Adults & Career Changers (Tuesday 21 October)
The opening day will focus on adults and professionals seeking new opportunities in STEM, particularly women considering a career change. Attendees can:

  • Explore current job opportunities and technologies

  • Network with leading employers

  • Attend workshops on CV writing and interview techniques

  • Meet inspiring female role models

Day 2 – Schools & Young People (Wednesday 22 October)
More than 1,000 local students will experience the world of STEM through interactive exhibits and motivational talks from industry professionals.
