Willen Hospice has expanded its retail network across Milton Keynes with the opening of four new shops, reinforcing its strategy to create long-term, sustainable income streams that support local hospice care.
The new stores — in Brooklands, Oxley Park, Stacey Bushes and a larger premises on Stony Stratford High Street — form part of a wider growth plan aimed at securing the charity’s financial future amid rising operational costs. The new Stony Stratford store opened on Friday, with the existing shop transforming into a Christmas pop-up.
Operating costs for the Hospice and its care services totalled £11 million last year, with just 12.7% covered by NHS funding. Retail income now represents one of the most dependable sources of financial support, directly funding the delivery of free specialist care for patients and their families across Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas.
