Milton Keynes Station Square has secured two national landscaping awards for the public realm redevelopment of one of the city centre’s main gateways.
Frosts Landscape Construction has been named a 2026 National Landscape Award winner in both the Soft Landscaping Construction (Non-Domestic) – Over £500K category and the Regeneration Scheme – Over £500K category for its work on the square.
The Milton Keynes Station Square redevelopment was delivered through a partnership between Milton Keynes Development Partnership and Milton Keynes City Council.
The scheme introduced new planting and wider public realm improvements intended to make the area outside Milton Keynes Central station greener and more welcoming, while improving the connection between the station and the city centre.
The planting was designed using species selected for their appearance, biodiversity benefits and long-term maintenance requirements.
MKDP director Adam Sciberras said: “Station Square shows how investment in public spaces can help create a stronger sense of place. By combining outstanding landscape design, public art and sustainable planting, we’ve transformed a key gateway to Milton Keynes into a space that is welcoming, distinctive and enjoyable for everyone who passes through it.
“We’re delighted to see the project recognised through these national awards. Working closely with Frosts Landscape Construction and Planit helped bring our vision to life, and we’d like to thank and congratulate everyone involved.”
The redevelopment was also accompanied by Walk With Your Dreams, a large-scale public artwork by British-Nigerian artist and designer Yinka Ilori.
The work, which was unveiled in October 2025, uses colours and patterns influenced by Nigerian textiles and the Milton Keynes grid system. It was designed partly to guide pedestrians arriving at the station towards the city centre.
Milton Keynes City Council says the installation marked the reopening of Station Square after its wider public realm redevelopment.
Councillor Lauren Townsend, deputy leader of Milton Keynes City Council, said: “It’s fantastic to see Station Square recognised through these national awards. As the front door to Milton Keynes for many people, it now offers a much warmer welcome and reflects the ambition of a city that’s continuing to grow and evolve. We’re proud to have worked with partners to create a place that people can enjoy from the moment they arrive.”
The 2026 National Landscape Awards ceremony is due to take place in London in December.
