Milton Keynes employers will be given a practical briefing on forthcoming employment law changes when the City Breakfast Club returns next month.

Sara Marshall, Head of Employment Law at Franklins Solicitors, will examine changes arising from the Employment Rights Act 2025 and what businesses should be doing to prepare when she addresses the City Breakfast Club on Wednesday October 7.

Her session, Employment Law 2027: Are You Ready for the Employment Rights Act Changes?, will focus on areas including unfair dismissal rights and Employment Tribunal time limits and the implications for employers recruiting staff, managing performance and dealing with workplace issues.

Sara said: “Businesses need time to understand employment law changes and consider what they mean in practice, rather than waiting until new requirements are upon them. For employers, that means looking at existing policies and processes, identifying where changes may be needed and making sure managers understand their responsibilities.”

The briefing is aimed at business owners, HR professionals and managers and will look at practical steps employers can take to prepare for the reforms and manage potential risks.

The event will be hosted by Jacqui Lawman, Partner at Mercer & Hole, who will open the breakfast before the guest speakers take to the floor.

Jacqui said: “Employment law is an issue that reaches businesses of every size, so this is an opportunity for employers to hear directly about the changes ahead and consider how they may affect their own organisations. City Breakfast Club is also about bringing the Milton Keynes business community together and giving people the opportunity to make useful connections.”

The morning will also hear from Samuel’s Charity, which supports seriously ill children at Milton Keynes University Hospital through equipment, games, improvements to wards and gifts.

The charity was established by Samuel after he was diagnosed with Precursor T-Cell Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2013. Its work is intended to support children and their families during serious illness.

The City Breakfast Club takes place at the YMCA, 1 North Sixth Street, Milton Keynes, from 7.30am until 9am on Wednesday October 7.

Places can be booked through the City Breakfast Club website.
