A new investment initiative has launched in Milton Keynes to help early-stage founders strengthen their business ideas and secure the backing they need to grow. The Investment Room is inviting applications from entrepreneurs across the MK postcode area, offering the chance to pitch for funding and receive hands-on support from experienced business leaders.
Milton Keynes continues to record some of the highest start-up activity in the UK. However, many young businesses face challenges linked to limited funding, a lack of market insight, or business models that are not ready to scale. The Investment Room aims to reduce those barriers by combining financial support with practical mentoring from local entrepreneurs and investors.
The programme has up to £1 million available to invest. Shortlisted founders will pitch at a live event in Milton Keynes, where they will meet investors, industry specialists, and mentors with direct experience of building successful ventures. Additionally, applicants will gain access to guidance designed to help them develop stronger foundations, improve commercial thinking, and avoid the common pitfalls that undermine early-stage growth.
Unlike traditional angel networks, The Investment Room includes a dedicated mentor community. These mentors are business owners and professionals who provide advice, share knowledge, and help founders prepare for the realities of launching and scaling. While they may not invest capital themselves, their involvement offers long-term value through strategic support and sector insight.
The initiative is open to anyone aged 18 or over living in the MK postcode area, with either a developed concept or a product already in the market. Applicants must own the intellectual property to their idea and be willing to pitch for real investment and mentorship.
To help founders understand whether the opportunity fits their stage of development, the programme has introduced a free Expression of Interest stage. This allows entrepreneurs to register early, learn more about the process, and receive guidance before submitting a full application.
Those wishing to proceed can then complete a £99 application, which includes a professional review of the proposal. Every applicant will receive feedback, including financial analysis and advice on investment readiness. Founders not yet ready to pitch will be given clear direction on how to strengthen their plans for future opportunities.
