Small businesses in Milton Keynes are being invited to explore tax reliefs and improve cash flow at a free event aimed at supporting regional growth.

The Network & Learn session, hosted by the South Midlands Growth Hub in partnership with TC Group, will take place at Unity Place on 30 April. It is designed to help SMEs better understand the range of tax incentives available and how they can be used to support investment and expansion.

TC Group, a firm of tax specialists, will lead the session, offering practical guidance on how businesses can reduce their tax burden while unlocking funds for growth. The focus will be on making complex tax reliefs more accessible to business owners who may be unaware of what they can claim.

Samantha Hunter, Partnerships and Events Manager at the South Midlands Growth Hub, said many SMEs are still missing out on support available to them. She said: “Too many businesses are unaware of the tax reliefs they’re entitled to or assume they don’t qualify. This session is about breaking that down and giving SMEs the confidence to explore what they can claim and how it can support their growth.”

The event will cover a range of areas relevant to SMEs. These include R&D tax relief, capital allowances and investment schemes such as EIS and SEIS. Attendees will also hear how the latest business rates changes, introduced in April 2026, may affect their operations.

In addition, the session will highlight common mistakes businesses make when claiming tax reliefs. It will also outline how firms can identify opportunities within their own operations and begin the claims process with greater confidence.

Organisers say the event is intended to deliver practical, actionable insight rather than theory. As a result, businesses will leave with a clearer understanding of how tax reliefs can directly support cash flow and long-term planning.

Alongside the learning element, the session will offer an opportunity for local SMEs to connect with peers across the Milton Keynes business community. Networking remains a key part of the event, reflecting the Growth Hub’s wider aim to strengthen regional business links.

The event runs from 9:30am to 12:30pm and is free to attend, although places must be booked in advance.
