Climate technology businesses looking to scale can apply for a support package worth £25,000 through a national programme involving Cranfield University.
EarthScale has opened applications for its third cohort, offering a 12-month programme designed to help UK ventures overcome the technical, commercial and financial challenges of bringing climate technologies to market.
Led by Imperial College London, the programme brings together six universities, including Cranfield, to provide access to specialist facilities, technical expertise and business development support.
Successful applicants will receive a tailored package of in-kind support worth £25,000, including pre-paid vouchers of up to £14,000 to access laboratories, manufacturing facilities and technical expertise across the UK.
The programme also provides investor introductions, individual investment readiness coaching and workshops covering financial modelling and alternative sources of funding.
Additional support focuses on recruitment, leadership development and navigating the regulatory requirements that can present significant challenges for businesses developing new technologies.
EarthScale is aimed at UK companies developing hardware or combined hardware and software solutions that contribute to net zero, reduce greenhouse gas emissions or help businesses and communities adapt to climate change.
Applicants must already have raised seed investment and be at a stage where they are preparing to scale their technology and business operations.
Cranfield University is one of EarthScale’s regional hubs, alongside universities in Derby, Exeter, Leeds and Nottingham. The network connects growing businesses with university expertise, research facilities, investors and potential commercial partners.
Karen Parks, EarthScale’s Cranfield Hub Manager, said of the programme: “EarthScale is built to scale the UK’s most promising climate tech ventures. Through our regional hubs, including Cranfield University, we are creating a powerful, connected ecosystem that supports innovation, sustainability and long-term economic growth.”
EarthScale is co-funded through Research England, part of UK Research and Innovation.
The programme has already supported 30 climate technology ventures through its first two cohorts, including 14 businesses selected earlier this year. These span sectors including energy, carbon removal, construction materials and the circular economy.
The latest recruitment round provides an opportunity for eligible businesses across Milton Keynes, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire to access specialist expertise and support through the national university network.
Applications for the third cohort close on Friday 20 November 2026.
