Milton Keynes College Group has achieved national recognition for its commitment to supporting staff and promoting an inclusive working culture, receiving two prestigious awards that highlight its dedication to people and progress.
The Group has been awarded the Gold Investors in Diversity mark by the National Centre for Diversity, acknowledging its positive approach to equality, diversity and inclusion. Staff and student surveys demonstrated the strength of this commitment, with 86 per cent of employees saying their diversity is respected, 91 per cent feeling included by colleagues, 72 per cent of students believing tutors take inclusion and respect seriously, and 70 per cent stating that equality and diversity are discussed within lessons.
In addition, the College has achieved Menopause Friendly Accreditation from Menopause Friendly UK, following an independent review of its culture, policies and training. The assessment confirmed that the College actively supports women experiencing menopause in the workplace and fosters an environment where open conversation is encouraged.
Henpicked CEO Deborah Garlick said that Milton Keynes College Group had demonstrated outstanding leadership in creating a culture where menopause is openly discussed and supported. She described the organisation as “a wonderful example of what being truly Menopause Friendly looks like — putting people first and making lasting change.”
Head of People Development and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Arv Kaushal, said the College was extremely proud of both awards, which reflect its focus on being a caring and positive employer. He said that staff give a great deal of themselves to provide the best possible education and training and, in return, deserve the best support the organisation can offer.
Kaushal added that the College’s people-centred approach also makes strong business sense. He said that in a competitive employment market, treating staff with respect and consideration is key to attracting and retaining talent. Feeling visible, valued and included, he added, is vital to job satisfaction.
EDI and People Development Adviser, Iman Essadiki, said the Menopause Friendly Accreditation was more than a badge of honour, describing it as a statement that the College is listening, learning and leading the way in breaking down taboos and supporting colleagues through every stage of life.
Group Chief Executive of the National Centre for Diversity UK and Ireland, Solat Chaudhry, said it had been an honour to work with Milton Keynes College, praising its unwavering commitment to inclusion since 2012. He added that the Group’s re-accreditation in 2025 as a leader in diversity stands as a testament to its enduring dedication and consistency.
