Universal Destinations & Experiences will outline potential UK resort supplier opportunities at its first joint event with Bedfordshire Chamber of Commerce.
The Working with Universal event will give businesses an early opportunity to learn how supplier engagement and procurement could develop as work progresses on the Universal United Kingdom Resort.
The event will take place on Tuesday, September 15, at King’s House in Bedford. Enabling works for the resort are already under way.
Senior Universal representatives will explain what the proposed theme park and resort will include, what the development could mean for the surrounding region and the types of goods and services that may be needed as the project moves forward.
The session will also examine how Universal expects its supplier engagement and procurement processes to evolve, as well as the qualities and capabilities it will seek from prospective suppliers.
A short presentation from Universal will be followed by an audience question-and-answer session. Businesses whose registrations are confirmed will be able to submit questions in advance, allowing organisers to identify the subjects most frequently raised by attendees.
Justin Richardson, chief executive of Bedfordshire Chamber of Commerce, said: “This is the first event we have hosted in partnership with Universal and it is an important early opportunity for businesses to hear directly from the team behind the development.
“Businesses want to understand the types of goods and services that could be required, how procurement may work and what will be expected of prospective suppliers. This event will help answer those initial questions and allow companies to begin preparing for opportunities that may emerge as the development progresses.
“Attending does not guarantee future work, but it will give businesses a clearer understanding of Universal’s approach and the standards they may need to meet.”
There will also be an opportunity to meet members of the Universal team and its partners over light food and drinks.
The event is free to Bedfordshire Chamber of Commerce members. The non-member price is £99 plus VAT.
Registering for or attending the event will not guarantee future work, entry into a procurement process or appointment as a Universal supplier. Any future contracts or opportunities will be governed by Universal’s relevant procurement procedures and requirements.
The event will be held at King’s House, 245 Ampthill Road, Bedford, Bedfordshire, MK42 9AZ. The start and finish times are yet to be confirmed.
