The Bus Shelter MK has relaunched as The Shelter MK, unveiling its new name, brand and mission at Midsummer Place this half-term.

Running from 25 October to 2 November, the charity has brought a life-sized replica sleeping pod to the shopping centre — offering visitors a glimpse into the facilities it provides for people experiencing homelessness at George House in Stantonbury.

The official launch takes place on Tuesday 28 October at 10am at the Midsummer Place bandstand, where the team will introduce the charity’s new identity and message: Hope. Stability. Future.

Pam Williams, Chair of The Shelter MK, said: “This is an exciting new chapter in our transition from The Bus Shelter MK. We’re proud to bring our charity to the forefront of people’s minds with a new look and feel that keeps those we support at its heart.”

The relaunch also includes a short film created by media production students from MK College, led by tutor Luke Sheehan. The project was part of their coursework and will be shown at Midsummer Place throughout half term.

Midsummer Place, which helped launch The Bus Shelter MK in 2017, has pledged its support once again. Kirsty McGiff, Marketing Manager at the shopping centre, said: “We’re honoured to support this wonderful charity again as they transition to become The Shelter MK.”

Local Business & Brand Growth company Yellowyoyo led the development of the charity’s future strategy, running workshops with The Shelter MK team to also shape its new name and strapline. This was followed by their design of the charity’s new identity and supporting materials.

Brand consultant Natalie Morten-Spencer from Brand Distinction helped develop the charity’s storytelling approach after spending time with staff and residents at George House.

Since its inception, The Bus Shelter MK has supported more than 300 guests, providing accommodation, hot meals, clean clothes and support to help rebuild lives. The charity continues to rely on public donations, with annual running costs of around £300,000.
