Workshop tackles resilience issues for tourism sector

Mar 24, 2014

In response to the recent extreme weather conditions across the UK, the government has awarded a £2 million tourism package to VisitEngland, the national tourist board, to support destinations and tourism businesses.

Local tourism champion Destination Milton Keynes has partnered with VisitEngland to run the free Business Resilience Workshop.

It aims to help tourism businesses to understand the impact that extreme weather may have on their business, what it means for tourism as a whole, and how to ensure that their business is ready for any future environmental issues.

The workshop takes place between 10am and 3pm at Jurys Inn, Central Milton Keynes.

VisitEngland chief executive James Berresford said: “We welcome this additional funding from government to support the tourism industry. It has enabled us to act fast and, together with Destination Milton Keynes,  we are providing vital on the ground support to help businesses become more resilient against severe weather conditions in the future.”
