He was speaking at the UK headquarters of international property company CBRE in London, where he addressed more than 40 investors, developers and commercial agents.

He highlighted the land in the borough available for office, manufacturing and warehouse developments and outlined how the A421 dual carriageway linking the M1 and A1 has already become a fundamental asset, making Bedford a viable option for manufacturing and logistics operations.

This will improve even further in the near future with the completion of the second phase of the western bypass as well as the East West Rail link, he added.

The event was the third in four years organised by the council to present to leading investors and developers.

Mr Hodgson (pictured) said: “We want to bring Bedford to those investors, develop relationships and instil the message that Bedford is open for business while creating awareness of the exciting opportunities available now and of those coming forward in the future.

“Investors and developers are already choosing to invest in Bedford because they can see Bedford offers the competitive and strategic advantages which business end users need.”

Bedford Borough Council chief executive Philip Simpkins also spoke to the audience at the event.
