The Luton factory manufactures Vauxhall’s leading Vivaro range, backed by the company’s plant at Ellesmere Port which manufactures the Astravan.
Almost two-thirds of Vivaros manufactured at Luton were shipped to mainland Europe, said a Vauxhall spokesman.
Mark Stein, Vauxhall’s plant director at Luton, said: “Responsibility for the majority of the UK’s industry volume in van manufacturing is a huge achievement and I heartily congratulate our excellent workforce for their commitment and dedication.
"Building on Vauxhall’s over 100-year history, we are now looking forward to an exciting future with the next generation Vivaro going into production in less than two years.”
