Runners prepare for Half Marathon challenge

Jun 02, 2011

They have thrown down the challenge to Milton Keynes companies to join the Team Challenge, which has been won for the last two years by a team from chartered accountants and business advisers Baker Tilly.
The half-marathon takes place on July 17 and is organised by the NSPCC. The Team Challenge is co-sponsored by Baker Tilly and Woodfine Solicitors, whose team of lawyers Neil Gibbs, John Egan, Andrew Buckley and consultant Patrick Cull are hoping to take Baker Tilly’s crown.
Mr Egan, head of Woodfines’ family law department, said: “The Woodfines office is celebrating ten years in Milton Keynes this year and we are keen to mark the occasion by supporting this great charity. We recognise that the NSPCC works tirelessly to protect children across the UK from cruelty and are pleased that we can show our support by attempting to run 13.1miles.”
Baker Tilly is supporting the half-marathon via the firm’s on-going code of conduct, which commits it to working within the local community. Their team of runners includes Jeremy Read, Julie Norman, Matthew List, Adam King and Lewis Tompkins.
NSPCC Milton Keynes fund-raising manager Sally Phipps said: “We hope that companies are encouraged to take part in the Team Challenge and see if anyone can beat reigning champions, Baker Tilly.
"It would be great to see the business community in Milton Keynes get behind this fantastic event – if you cannot get together a team, you could enter as an individual and ask colleagues to sponsor you.”
