Willen Hospice Company Introduction
Willen Hospice is local charity in Milton Keynes. We support the growing number of people in our community coping with the devastating impact of a life-limiting illness, providing our patients and their loved ones with the highest quality, personalised care—completely free of charge.
Although as a hospice we’re well-known for our lakeside In-Patient Unit, the majority of our care happens in the community. In fact, 86% of our patients are cared for in the place where they live by our Willen at Home team. This service brings expert nursing, emotional support and essential equipment to patients’ homes, creating an environment where they are safe, more comfortable and surrounded by the people and things they love.
Despite Willen at Home being the only service of its kind in Milton Keynes, it receives no ongoing NHS funding and costs us £1.4 million a year to run – which is funded entirely by charitable donations.
That’s why the support from local businesses is so important. Every donation, fundraiser or volunteer day ensures that we can continue supporting local people when and where they need us.
