New hub at UCMK puts focus on innovation

Nov 05, 2013

The hub will be located within the new University Campus Milton Keynes. It has evolved from discussions between MK Gateway, Biztech and UCMK and aims to create a focus for innovation and knowledge exchange.
Students, academics and developing businesses will work together in an environment that will lead to successful fit-for-market products and world-class company spin-outs, said a spokesman.
The aim is to attract the brightest minds from businesses large and small, the academic sector and the talented pool of students from in and around Milton Keynes.
It will provide an incubator space and environment that will encourage creativity within both the   technology and wider domains.
The Innovation Den will be managed by MK Biztech Gateway Ltd which has a constituted board representing business, the new University Campus Milton Keynes and Milton Keynes Council.
The launch event on November 14 will welcome speakers including University of Bedfordshire Vice Chancellor Bill Rammell pictured, Milton Keynes Mayor Cllr Brian White and Fredi Nonyelu and Dr Philip Smith of MK Biztech Gateway.
The event will also host Biztech’s regular ‘Ask the Expert’ forum and will see Lee Barney from Securm talk about IT Security.
