Leading lights step up to sponsor 2015 awards

Jan 06, 2015

Headline sponsors of the event on March 12 are the Open University, University of Bedfordshire, Milton Keynes Council and the South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership.

The Open University is also sponsoring the prestigious Business of the Year award, which will be judged from among the winners of all the award categories.

OU director of communications Lucian Hudson said: “MK BAA is a terrific way to showcase innovative businesses in Milton Keynes.

"We are thrilled to sponsor the Business of the Year award again. As the home of a world-leading Business School, we understand the importance of recognising the business leaders of tomorrow.”

The other major award is Lifetime Achievement sponsored by Milton Keynes Business Leaders Partnership. MKBLP is also presenting MK BAA 2015 in association with full service agency Interdirect and event management company Evolution.

MKBLP chair Philip Smith is delighted to see leading local organisations come forward to be a part of MK BAA 2015. He said: “It is testament to how well the inaugural MK BAA was received earlier this year that so many of the 2014 sponsors have chosen to be involved again.

“Some of our new sponsors for 2015 were entrants this year, others have come on board after seeing the buzz around the awards and experiencing the atmosphere of the evening itself.”

MK BAA 2015 takes place at the DoubleTree by Hilton at stadiummk. The evening will be compered by broadcaster and former BBC war correspondent Kate Adie and features a drinks reception, three-course meal, live music and an after-event party. One of last year’s winners has urged businesses of all sizes across the city to take part.

Jan Flawn CBE, founder of neurological care specialist PJ Care which won the Professional Practice award at last year’s MKBAA ceremony, told around 100 businesspeople at the City Breakfast Club: “Just being shortlisted gave our 500 staff the feel good factor and then winning and going up on stage was fantastic.

“Entering MK BAA is simple and so straightforward.”

Mr Smith added: “Success breeds success, and that is as true of business as it is of MK BAA. We look forward to share and celebrate success with our sponsors, guests and entrants on the night.

"It is now all about entries and we encourage local businesses to view our website and the online application form.”

Entering MK BAA 2015 could not be easier. Enter online at www.mkbaa.co.uk and work on your entry right up to the closing date of January 22.

The 13 open categories have also been revised to better reflect Milton Keynes’ mix of business sizes and types.
