HSBC has also welcomed two new deputy area commercial directors: Theresa Elliott, who has moved from HSBC in Scotland, and Paul Harris, previously with the bank’s invoice finance team.
Andy, who has lived in the Milton Keynes area since 1993, says: “Northants and Milton Keynes are both distinct economies and business districts but they share some common themes.
“They are both populated by forward-thinking, innovative and go-ahead businesses and they both boast high-quality professionals of great integrity.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as area commercial director here and have made some brilliant friends.”
He became a well-known figure in the business community during his eight years as area commercial director and will continue some consultancy work in his retirement.
Mr Welch will take over HSBC’s 32-strong team in the region, including 18 commercial managers. He said: “I am looking to build on the excellent platform left by Andy. We have a fantastic portfolio of clients, with a distinct international focus, and I want to continue to serve those, while bringing new businesses across to HSBC.”
