Luton in particular has benefited from previous RGF awards to General Motors and Luton Borough Council.
Now the county’s business leaders are hoping the next round of funding will benefit the rest of Bedfordshire.
Successful applications for funding have seen job creation and increased local economic prosperity.
Bedfordshire Chamber of Commerce chief executive Cheryl Smart (pictured) said: “We know how important it is towards ensuring there are jobs and opportunities in the area. Funding such as this really stimulates growth, boosts confidence and shows that the government has confidence in our area.”
Application for Regional Growth Funding is one of several ways in which the Chamber was working to boost the Bedfordshire economy.
“We are looking at every option there is to ensure that Bedfordshire grows and prospers,” said Mrs Smart.
“It is really important that Bedfordshire does not become a victim of the ‘forgotten South’ We are in the middle of the country, have first class transport links to all parts of the UK as well as an international transport hub.
"Few areas have our advantages but we need investment and an environment that actively promotes business to make the most of them.”
With the Budget statement due later this month, the Chamber has called on ministers to deliver the key infrastructure projects that business needs in order to thrive.
