Hub finalises its first tenants

The Institute of Chartered Accountants and quantity surveyors Davis Langdon LLP will be the first occupants, agreeing deals on 34,000 sq ft and 9,000 sq ft respectively.

The Hub:MK, one of the region’s most impressive development projects, is Milton Keynes’ most diverse mixed-use scheme to be undertaken in the last 30 years.

Developed by Frontier Estates, Building 900 offers five floors of offices, totalling approximately 50,000 sq ft (4,645 sq m). It is expected be ready for occupation by the early summer and the remaining space is under offer.

Joint agents Douglas Duff and DTZ Debenham Tie Leung are delighted with the high level of interest in these superb offices. With the whole of Phase 1 being let or under offer, immediate preparations for Phase 2 are under way, together with plans for future phases which could ultimately provide up to 450,000 sq ft of quality business space.

Robert Shacklock, of Douglas Duff, said: “The runaway success of the Phase 1 offices not only establishes the Milton Keynes commercial property market firmly on the regional map, it also provides a solid boost to rental levels which, for the first time, are breaking the £20 per sq ft benchmark.

“”In addition, it demonstrates a significant vote of confidence in Milton Keynes, not just as an important commercial centre, but also as a new city of innovation and style. And for the first time in Milton Keynes, we are seeing construction moving upwards to complement the initial philosophy of a low-rise city.””

The Hub has offices and apartments set around a landscaped Central Piazza with restaurants, bars and shops. Since construction began two years ago, there has been rapid progress on the two hotels, apartments, speciality retail outlets and restaurants.

The 500 apartments have already been pre-sold, and with construction progress running on target, residents are expected to move in during late spring and early summer. “
