Foundation sets £1m targetNov 14, 2008
Alongside business advisers Baker Tilly, law firms Borneos and Hewitsons and retailer Beaverbrooks, Bullerwells will boost the value of its donation through the Endowment Challenge scheme which offers match funding from the government.
Optometrist Lesley Arkin is a long-time supporter of the community foundation and has made a new donation to boost the Million for Milton Keynes still further. Singer and voice coach Cheryl Hawkins, of Sound Perfect, has pledged to donate half of the proceeds raised through their ‘Christmas Sing’ to the scheme.
Milton Keynes Community Foundation aims to distribute the money among community groups and charities in the city.
Marketing manager Sarah Sweet-Rowley said: “Fund-raising events like this can be a great way to offer your support. All levels of giving are vital to this fund-raising drive which will generate a massive cash boost for the city by 2011. The match funding from the treasury means there has never been a better time to give.
The Endowment Challenge runs until 2011 and the Milton Keynes Community Foundation is calling on businesses of all sizes to play their part, with donations from as little as £50. Sarah said: “The Foundation is strongly encouraging all levels of support.â€
