Estate agency launches recruitment drive for apprenticesJun 18, 2014
Connells Estate Agents is looking to take on 15 apprentices at its head office in Leighton Buzzard and hopes youngsters in the Leighton Buzzard and Milton Keynes area will see this as a great opportunity to develop their skills while earning a wage.
Group recruitment director Ian Dobrin said: “As a company we are committed to giving young people the chance to build a career and we are keen to hear from young people in the Leighton Buzzard area who think they have something to offer.
“Working with Positive Outcomes ensures they will receive excellent support during their training, earning a regular salary while they develop their skills and with the genuine prospect of a full-time job at the end of their training.”
The new roles are in addition to more than 50 apprentices whom Connells is already placing in negotiator roles at its branches nationwide.
“It shows our determination to develop talented young people,” said Mr Dobrin.
Positive Outcomes is one of the UK’s top ten training and apprenticeship providers which places and supports people across a broad range of businesses.
Chief executive officer Chris Longmate said: “We are delighted to be working with Connells to offer this exciting opportunity for youngsters who may be completing their education but who are looking to an alternative to college or university courses.
“Apprenticeships offer an alternative where they can develop their core skills and gain experience in the workplace while earning a wage and with the real prospect of going on to secure a permanent role in an organisation.”
That has certainly been the experience of apprentices at Connells with 80% continuing with the company in full time positions after completing their training.

Suitable candidates will then be invited to the recruitment event and those selected will be invited to a week’s trial within the department and, if successful, take up one of the full-time apprenticeship positions.
Throughout their 12-month placement they will be regularly visited by a sector qualified training advisor from Positive Outcomes to deliver their qualification. In addition, Connells will hold quarterly reviews to highlight achievements and set personal goals.
Connells employs around 500 staff at its Leighton Buzzard head office.
