City set to become the fastest growing in the UK

MILTON Keynes is set to become the fastest growing city in the UK,
according to a new report by the Centre for Economics and Business Research.

The study suggests that year-on-year growth for the city, which is
judged by the value of goods and services it produces, will be 2.1% by Q4 2020.

In Q4 2018 MK became the fifth fastest growing city in the UK. It
now looks set to take the No.1 spot by overtaking Reading, Oxford, Cambridge
and Ipswich, says the report compiled with law firm Irwin Mitchell.

The two Milton Keynes MPs have welcomed the report’s findings. Mark Lancaster, MP for Milton Keynes North, said: “It is brilliant to see Milton Keynes is expected to be the fastest growing city in the whole of the UK, but it really should come as no surprise when you see all the success we’re having at the moment.

“Milton Keynes really is a driver for businesses and a force to be
reckoned with when it comes to technology innovation, and just shows what a
great place it is to invest in.”

Iain Stewart, who represents Milton Keynes South, added: “This
report shows the underlying strengths of the Milton Keynes economy and the
strong pro-business policies of the government.

“It is this business growth which creates high-quality jobs and
creates the wealth to fund the public services we all want to see.”
