Chamber begins search for a permanent chief executive

Jun 28, 2012

The business representation organisation has moved from its offices in The Hub to top-floor premises in Silbury Court. The switch follows a root-and-branch strategic review of the business, including a new business plan, cost savings and a reorganisation.

The board has begun the recruitment process to appoint a permanent chief executive. Interim chief executive Colin Fox has been in post since the resignation of his predecessor Rita Spada in November and is likely to be among the favourites to land the position.

He has worked with the board to oversee the move to the Chamber’s new headquarters in Silbury Boulevard and has concentrated on introducing a dramatic shift in the organisation’s focus back to the local market.

The Chamber directors have decided to begin the external recruitment process as part of the corporate governance.

Chamber president Silvia Vitiello (pictured) said: “Colin is working closely with the board and there is still much to be done. We must now appoint a permanent chief executive officer to continue this sterling work and as part of our governance we are welcoming applications for this role from members and local business people.”

She added that strong and transparent financial management was a key factor in the recruitment decision.

The directors are looking for a candidate with experience of working at a senior level in a commercially driven organisation, who has established local business connections and excellent internal and external communication skills.

The closing date for applications is July 9.

Prospective candidates should apply in writing enclosing a full CV to the Chamber’s registered office at SNR Denton Solicitors, The Pinnacle, 170 Midsummer Boulevard, Milton Keynes MK9 1FE, marked for the attention of S Vitiello re Milton Keynes & North Bucks Chamber of Commerce.
