Campaign urges business to consider exports

East of England International senior international trade adviser Anton Rudgalvis said: “Entrepreneurs will often have great new ideas and innovations which will not only be a hit in their home market but have the potential to be marketed in other countries.
 
"It is important that they grasp this opportunity to make the most of their innovation or new enterprise.”
 
Bedfordshire-based innovative software producer Computair develops computer programmes for the heating, ventilation and air conditioning industry.
 
Its flexible modular system enables the company to provide bespoke solutions to their customers quickly and easily and now sell into North America and Europe.
 
The company had targeted the Turkish market and EEI were enlisted the help of the commercial team at the British Embassy in the country who arranged meetings with important decision makers.  Computair has won significant business contracts on the back of this work.
 
Technical director Richard Phelan said: “Previously we were not aware that there was government assistance for exporting. Our contacts at the British Embassy spoke Turkish and knew the business etiquette of the region, so they were able to make valuable contacts for us.”
 
Mr Rudgalvis said: “Even though we remain in an economic downturn, this is a perfect time for businesses to start venturing into foreign markets and Global Entrepreneurship Week provides a great opportunity to kick start growing your business.”
