Award confirms company as a ‘star’ employerFeb 26, 2009
The achievement, which rates the Newport Pagnell-based company as “outstanding”, is a significant improvement on last year’s results in which BI achieved a one-star status.
The Best Companies accreditation independently acknowledges excellence in the workplace and an organisation’s commitment to its workforce.
Each organisation that enters the Best Companies accreditation – a total of 795 this year – receives a score which is calculated from a survey of questions in which its employees rate the organisation itself and their working environment.
BI managing director Richard Bandell (pictured) said: "This is a fantastic achievement for us. We, as a company, believe that our most important asset is our employees and recognise the importance of having an engaged workforce.
“It is an honour to receive a two-star status and improve on previous years’ performances as it not only demonstrates our commitment to having a motivated team, but also indicates how much our employees value BI."
BI joined other organisations successful in gaining Best Companies recognition at the awards ceremony in London.
BI head of HR and development Karen Collins, who collected the award, said: “ Being recognised in this way is indicative of our approach to ensuring our employees are happy. We have worked hard over the past year to respond to last year’s Best Companies findings and the marked increase in our score, and resultant star status, is confirmation that our employees have responded well to our efforts."
Best Companies, the name behind The Sunday Times ‘Best Companies to Work For’, is a workforce engagement specialist. Every company that goes for Best Companies accreditation is given a Best Companies Index score.
This score – on a scale from 1 to 1,000 – is defined by employees’ responses to questions within the Best Companies survey.
‘Star’ status’ is determined by the BCI score and the specific cut-off points for One, Two, and Three Star Accreditation remain constant year on year.
