Specialist named in ‘Hot 100’

Mr Assim (pictured) heads Shoosmiths’ intellectual property and information technology group from its offices in Central Milton Keynes. He is a leading IP lawyer in the clothing and footwear industry boasting high profile clients such as Jimmy Choo.

The Hot 100, compiled by specialist magazine The Lawyer, recognises those who have contributed significantly to the legal world and who have enhanced the reputation of law firms, chambers or other organisations for which they work.

Mr Assim said: “My role is varied even though I specialise solely in intellectual property. One day I could be advising clients on copyright and design right matters and the next I could be attending an international conference or writing an article for The New York Law Journal.”

He joined Shoosmiths from City law firm Travers Smith Braithwaite in 1997 and became a partner a year later specialising in intellectual property, especially anti-counterfeiting with particular expertise in parallel imports.

He headed Shoosmiths’ move to Milton Keynes in 2000 and has continued to advise designer clients on commercial issues and brand protection including Fenn Wright Manson and Georgina Goodman.

Mr Assim also co-ordinates Shoosmiths’ work with clients including DaimlerChrysler, Lambretta, Thorntons, TK Maxx and Volkswagen Group.
