Skills broker outlines plans

Train to Gain is the Learning and Skills Council’s flagship service to help businesses get the training they need to succeed. Employers in Milton Keynes will benefit from free practical and impartial business advice on training and skills offered through Skills South East.

Train to Gain is designed to help employers, particularly smaller businesses, access the right training to help their business grow. It aims to address the significant skills shortages that continue to have a negative impact on UK productivity and competitiveness. In the South East Train to Gain will engage with 16,000 employers and 54,000 learners over the next two years.

Skills South East general manager Richard Gorringe said: ” We know there are many employers that haven’t trained staff before. We want to work with them offering the highest quality service at a time and place that suits their business.””

Peter Marsh, skills director of the LSC South East, added: “”The performance of Skills Brokers is crucial to the success of Train to Gain. The LSC is investing over £3.9 million in this regional network of business and skills advisers. Skills Brokers such as Skills South East will create a ‘first stop shop’ for employers, making it simpler and easier for them to access the right training for their needs.””
