The extra support and administrative staff for the £4.2 million campus are being recruited locally. The college is also recruiting an examinations officer and further job openings are also under review for the first term of 2007 when the students use the new facilities for the first time
Barnfield already employs more than 1,000 teaching and support staff. Principal Pete Birkett said: “The opening of the new ultra-modern York Street campus with the resulting increase in our workforce is part of our commitment to improving learning opportunities for students in Luton and surrounding areas. It features the latest technology and purpose-built teaching, study and support facilities which will benefit our students considerably.”
The new campus has taken 16 months to complete.
