Bus operator Arriva has set up the Employer Travel Club. In return for an annual fee, businesses receive cheaper travel for staff and leisure discounts.
Membership also helps to ease pressure on parking spaces and demonstrates an organisation’s corporate social responsibility, said an Arriva spokesman.
The launch of the scheme has also been welcomed by Milton Keynes city centre management.
Arriva is trialling its Employer Travel Club in Milton Keynes, on the Quorum Business Park in Newcastle and with Wakefield and Leeds City Colleges. Club members receive daily commuting travel from less than £2, as well as free additional travel and other discounts.
Arriva regional marketing manager Linsey Frostick said: “We are delighted we have introduced the Employer Travel Club into Milton Keynes. It really does offer a win-win for all parties.
“The businesses, their staff, the managers of local employers and Arriva all have something to gain. Success here will provide the foundations for the Employer Travel Club to go nationwide later this year.”
Milton Keynes City Centre manager Kay Greenhalgh said: “Any incentives that result in more people using public transport are welcomed and this one hits the spot both financially and practically for businesses and their employees”
