Tape firm wraps up pentathlon sponsorship deal

It has agreed a six-year deal, having also sponsored the Great Britain Skeleton team.

Pentathlon GB chief executive Nigel Laughton said: “As a relatively small sport, we are constantly looking for partners and suppliers to work with us and it is outstanding we have secured suppliers of industry best tape from now, through Rio 2016 all the way to the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.”

tesa UK, based at Blakelands in Milton Keynes, is providing its 4651 double-sided tape to secure pistes for the fencing discipline as the athletes compete in events around the UK.

The 17-strong Pentathlon GB squad compete individually in all five disciplines of modern pentathlon – fencing, swimming, equestrian, running and shooting – during the three national rankings events.

They will be seeking enough points to be selected for international competitions in the 2015 season. But their points tally takes on extra significance as they can also gain their qualification places for next year’s Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

tesa UK marketing manager Jeremy Smith said: “We are delighted to be associated with Pentathlon GB and will be monitoring their progress over the coming months.

“tesa tapes are gaining recognition in many industries and working with such a high profile sporting organisation is not only a pleasure but will hopefully be rewarding for all concerned.”
