Milton Keynes Council leaders prepare to face Twitter Q&A

They will be answering questions from businesses and residents on a range of issues. The session takes place on December 16 between 4pm and 5pm.

Questions can be on any subject, from council business to their favourite song, and can be submitted beforehand to communications@milton-keynes.gov.uk along with the questioner’s Twitter handle and/or name.

You can also tweet live during the hour with the hashtag #AskMKC.

Mrs Mills said: “I feel it very important that we are accessible and, as before, we will neither shy away from difficult questions nor hide behind the council’s communications team to give MK citizens the answers they deserve.”

The council ran its first Twitter Q&A session in September. “It was a great opportunity for us to interact directly with residents, understand what concerns they had and give open and honest answers to their questions,” said Mrs Mills.

“It was fantastic to see #AskMKC trending in the UK and the people of Milton Keynes so keen to talk to us.

Cllr Marland added: “We are a co-operative council and that means that it is vital for us to engage with the people of Milton Keynes. These financially tough times will mean a difficult budget round for Milton Keynes and we are not afraid of challenging questions regarding some of the decisions that may need to be taken.

“We do genuinely care about what the people of Milton Keynes have to say and think it important that they are given a platform such as this to air any thoughts, ideas and concerns they may have.”
