A Pedalling Culture initiative, the unique Cultural Passport challenges people to visit four venues, collecting a green challenge stamp at each location. The scheme begins today (Saturday December 1) when the Cultural Passport can be stamped at any of 17 venues across Milton Keynes, from MK Museum and The Stables, to Bradwell Abbey and Westbury Arts Centre.
Participants have five weeks to complete the challenge, which ends on January 6, and all completed passports will be entered into a draw to win prizes including a £100 gift card from intu Milton Keynes or the hire of an electric vehicle for the week.
Pictured are the Beavers from 1st Stony Stratford Scout Group, who were the first to have their passports stamped during a test evening challenge which saw them explore the public art on display at Milton Keynes Theatre, complete a trail at MK Gallery, and discover the MK Monster at Central Library.
The Cultural Passports are available at all participating cultural venues, The EVEC centre on Silbury Boulevard and libraries across Milton Keynes or can be downloaded from the Pedalling Culture website.
Pedalling Culture is a public-private sector partnership initiative created with the aid of funding from the Arts Council England’s Cultural Destination projects. Partners include Milton Keynes Council, MK Gallery, Bletchley Park Trust, tourism body Destination Milton Keynes, My Milton Keynes Business Improvement District and Arts & Heritage Alliance.
It aims to highlight that cultural destinations can be reached from the many green transport links around the city, including more than 280 miles of redway routes. The Pedalling Culture project also wants t link with the Electric Vehicle Experience Centre to encourage the take-up of electric vehicles.
