The Linkline Group of Companies, based near Milton Keynes, has become part of WJ Roadmarkings.
Linkline, which also has a maintenance services and thermoplastics division, employs 60 people at its base in Newton Longville. All staff will be retained by the enlarged group, said a spokesman.
Established in 1994 by managing director Tom Henrick, the Linkline Group is a leading UK provider of permanent road markings and manufacturer of thermoplastic road marking materials. It has a turnover of more than £9 million.
Its acquisition will double the size of WJ Roadmarkings, which supplies 85 per cent of the UK temporary road markings market. The company is a recognised leader in line removal and is well known for its innovation and product development.
Managing director Wayne Johnston said: “There is an extremely good fit between the two businesses. The acquisition of Linkline will not only bring market-leading expertise in permanent road markings and safety surfacing which complements the W J Roadmarkings business perfectly but also greater resource in the south, particularly in London, which will allow the combined business to fulfill larger contracts.”
Jon Marriott, corporate finance director at business advisers Bentley Jennison in Milton Keynes office, acted as lead adviser to W J Roadmarkings Limited, working with client partner John Bennett and senior manager Phil Gale. Bentley Jennison tax director Nigel Syson provided tax advice and Matt Fleetwood of Heatons in Manchester provided legal advice.
WJ Roadmarkings has its headquarters in Newcastle-Under-Lyme.
